Description

OneRepublic's songwriting has always leaned toward piano and strings, which means this eleven-track solo piano collection requires less adaptation than most — several of these songs were already keyboard-centered in their original recordings.

Apologize, Secrets, and Come Home are the most natural fits, all three built on piano-led arrangements that translate directly to a single instrument without much lost in the process. Counting Stars and I Lived had fuller, more layered productions behind them originally, and the piano versions brings both down to a steadier, more even-paced arrangement with the melody sitting clearly on top. Stop and Stare and Feel Again sit comfortably in the middle of the track list, both mid-tempo songs with chord progressions that move at a pace well suited to the solo piano format.

All the Right Moves and What You Wanted carried more rhythmic energy in their original form, and both are handled here with a consistent left-hand pattern that keeps things moving without recreating the production of the originals. Good Life and If I Lose Myself round out the more upbeat end of the collection, their tempos kept measured and their dynamic range consistent with the rest of the album.

For anyone familiar with OneRepublic's catalog, the track list covers most of the songs that made them one of the more consistently charting acts of the 2000s and 2010s.
