Ray Charles: Hit the Road Jack

Audio Preview

Description

Twelve Ray Charles classics make up this set, spanning the soulful grit and gospel-inflected warmth that defined his sound.

"Hit the Road Jack" anchors the collection with its call-and-response energy, as sharp and playful as ever. "Georgia on My Mind" and "Come Rain or Come Shine" bring the set's most tender, atmospheric moments, while "What'd I Say" offers a looser, more electric turn built around its famous vamp. "I Can't Stop Loving You" rounds out the collection with one of Charles's most enduring crossover hits.

A great pick for anyone looking to spend time with one of soul music's founding voices.
